INVESTIGATION OF FOOTBALL FIXING INCIDENTS REFLECTION AND ITS EFFECT ON TURKISH SOCIETY

Introduction: The research was carried out to examine how match-fi xing incidents in football were reflected on Turkish society and how they impact it.
Methods: In this study, survey model was used from quantitative research approaches. The study group consists of 461 participants living in 7 different geographical regions of Turkey. The data were collected by survey technique. A personal information form including age, gender, income status, and the team support status and «A state of belief in match-fi xing incidents in Turkish football» questionnaire developed by Vardar and Pepe in 2015 were applied to the participants.
Results: When the results of the research were examined, there was a significant difference between the favourite team, gender, income status and belief in match- fixing incidents. However, there wasn’t a significant difference between team retention status, age and belief in match- fixing incidents.
